The Senior Roku Developer will:

  • Participate in advanced level design and development of scalable and high-performing Brightscript applications in support of our ROKU clients on Brightscript-enabled devices.

  • Work under limited direction. Analyze and resolve complex problems to ensure minimal disruption of critical applications.

  • Provide technical expertise in scripting languages with focus on front-end design and application performance on embedded systems.

  • Demonstrate ability to communicate with cross-functional teams from Development to System Operations.

  • Unit-test code for robustness, including edge cases, usability and general reliability.

  • Mentor less experienced engineers.

  • Interface with other teams and/or third party vendors to assist in deployment of our client application on ROKU platforms.

  • Monitor industry trends and advocate for front-end development best practices to maintain and enhance the product's leadership position in the industry.

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a 4-year College or University in Electrical/Computer Engineering or Computer Science

  • 4+ years of experience in software development

  • 3+ years of experience working with core scripting languages, such as JS

  • 3+ years of experience working in an embedded environment

  • 2+ years of experience building solutions on mobile or other resource-constrained devices

  • 2+ years of experience with Git version control system

  • Experience with data structures, algorithms, and OO Design

  • Experience in mobile UX design

  • Experience enabling performance monitoring and optimizations, multivariate testing, etc.

  • Experience with RESTful Services and JSON

  • Experience working in an agile scrum and/or kanban development process

  • Experience presenting information and responding to questions from group managers, clients and customers

  • Candidate must be able to effectively communicate in English (written & verbal)

  • Candidate must have permanent authorization to work in the USA for any employer

  • Corp to corp candidates will not be considered

Optional Skills:

  • Experience working with IP video delivery technology

  • Experience in mobile development (native and web)

  • Understanding of ABR streaming technologies, such as HLS and DASH

  • Experience in Charles Proxy and Splunk

  • Experience in the cable or telecom industry

  • Experience in object-oriented analysis and design, enterprise design patterns and SOA architecture preferred
