Position Summary
The Software Engineer is an emerging leader across the development organization and works closely with members of their team and the business, participating in all aspects of the software development lifecycle to create solutions that meet the business need. They are self-motivated individuals that look for opportunities and are excited to grow their business and technical knowledge which in-turn allows their Agile team to deliver business value. They work closely with architect roles and assist in design and vision of business solutions and identify opportunities of improvement for our processes and technical practices.

Responsibilities
• Works alongside the architect and consultant roles to translate the vision and design into executable pieces of work
• Participates in all phases of development
• Adheres and evangelizes company coding and design standards/best practices
• Communicate and work alongside members of their team in support of their day-to-day work items
• Works with business partners to ensure alignment between the ask and the output
• Performs peer reviews and sign-off for other team member’s work to ensure adherence to defined development standards
• Key player and leader in an Agile environment, participating in daily huddles, sprint planning, retrospectives, etc.
• Attends Agile team and development group meetings
• Continued education to learn additional technologies, programming languages, industry best practices and tools that are needed within First Command
• Continued education of company business processes by engaging business partners
• Mentors junior team members in best practices and standards
• Serve as an escalation point for junior team members on technical issues
• Preparation and execution of test plans (unit, integration and functional)
• Responsible for performing business and technical knowledge transfer with their peers

Qualifications

Education
• Preferred – Bachelor’s Degree

Work Experience
• 4-8 years’ experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• SOA based Web Services, RESTful Web Services , Hibernate, Spring, MVC, XSD, XML and WSDL, DB
• Experience in Agile (Scrum) software development methodologies
• Extensive experience with web-based technologies and Windows OS
• Solid knowledge of programming languages in all 3 tiers (UI, API, DBMS)
• Solid knowledge of SQL
• Solid knowledge of Git and Visual Studio IDE
• Knowledge of DevOps tools and mindset
• Knowledge of HTML5/CSS3
• Experience with REST and SOAP services
• Ability to work alongside others and be a team player
• Up to date with latest programming trends, techniques and technologies
• Knowledge of 2 or more core First Command business processes
• Application of SOLID design principles within solutions
• Test Driven Development Experience
• Ability to lead a team’s efforts and direction
• Visio or comparable drawing tool

Colorado salary range - $20/hr to $125/hr
