Role Overview:
Responsible for both front-end and back-end development, including creating custom themes and plugins. We need someone who has moved beyond basic page building and can write clean, efficient code to build high-performance, scalable websites.

Key Responsibilities:

• Build WordPress themes and plugins from scratch using PHP, ensuring they are lightweight and easy to manage.
• Front-End Implementation: Transform high-fidelity UI/UX designs (Figma/Adobe XD) into responsive, pixel-perfect web pages using HTML5, CSS3/Sass, and modern JavaScript.
•  Develop custom blocks for the Block Editor to provide a flexible editing experience for content creators.
• Third-Party Integrations: Connect WordPress with external services via REST APIs (e.g., CRMs, payment gateways, or marketing automation tools).
• Site Optimization: Conduct regular audits to improve page load speeds, Core Web Vitals, and SEO technical health.
• Maintenance & Security: Debug complex plugin conflicts, perform core updates, and implement security best practices to protect against vulnerabilities.
• Required Skills & Qualifications
• Experience: 3+ years of professional experience in WordPress development.
• PHP & MySQL: Strong proficiency in PHP and a solid understanding of how WordPress interacts with the MySQL database.
• WP Core: Deep knowledge of the WordPress hook system (Actions/Filters) and Template Hierarchy.
• Modern Tools: Experience with Git version control and local development environments (e.g., LocalWP, Docker).
• JavaScript: Experience with ES6+ and ideally some exposure to React (for block development).
• Problem Solving: Ability to troubleshoot "White Screen of Death" errors and database performance issues independently.

Bonus Points:

• Experience with headless WordPress (WP Engine, Atlas, or Next.js).
• Knowledge of accessibility (WCAG) standards.
• Experience with automated testing or CI/CD pipelines.

Candidate must be able to effectively communicate in English (written & verbal)
Candidate must have permanent authorization to work in the USA for any employer

The base range for this position is $30 - $60 per hour, depending on experience. Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hires of this position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
