This is an opportunity to drive meaningful technology transformation for a mid‑size organization focused on modern, scalable, and business‑aligned solutions.

We are seeking an AVP of Application Development to lead application delivery and modernization initiatives, with emphasis on cloud, AI‑enabled solutions, low‑code platforms, and core policy administration systems such as Guidewire.

Job Summary

The AVP of Application Development leads application strategy, delivery, and modernization across core insurance and digital platforms. This role oversees multiple teams and portfolios, driving transformation of legacy and policy administration systems, adoption of cloud technologies, and use of AI and low‑code solutions to improve speed, quality, and business outcomes. 
The role partners closely with business leaders, architecture, security, and operations to ensure solutions align with enterprise strategy and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead enterprise application development and modernization initiatives
  • Define and execute modernization roadmaps for legacy and policy administration platforms, including Guidewire
  • Oversee delivery of cloud‑native and hybrid application solutions
  • Drive adoption of AI, automation, and low‑code platforms to accelerate delivery
  • Establish development standards, architecture alignment, and governance
  • Lead and mentor application development teams and leaders
  • Partner with business stakeholders to deliver scalable, secure solutions
  • Ensure applications meet security, compliance, performance, and availability requirements
  • Promote Agile and DevOps practices across teams
  • Manage vendor and system integrator relationships

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of application development experience, including senior leadership roles
  • Experience leading insurance application portfolios, including policy administration systems
  • Hands‑on leadership experience with platforms such as Guidewire
  • Experience with cloud platforms and modern application architectures
  • Strong understanding of insurance business processes
  • Proven success with Agile delivery models
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills

Preferred / Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience modernizing Guidewire implementations or migrating to Guidewire Cloud
  • Experience with AI, analytics, or intelligent automation solutions
  • Experience with low‑code platforms
  • Experience in regulated enterprise environments

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to effectively communicate in English, both written and verbal
  • Permanent authorization to work in the United States for any employer

Compensation

The base pay range for this position is $30 – $60 per hour, depending on experience. Pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range shown reflects the minimum and maximum target compensation for new hires for this position across all U.S. locations. Individual compensation within the range is based on work location and other factors, including:

  • Job‑related skills
  • Relevant experience
  • Applicable training and certifications
