Job Description
LRS Consulting Services is seeking a Plant Systems IT Technician (L2) for a fully onsite contract engagement in Holland, MI, supporting IT operations across manufacturing facilities. This role sits between Help Desk and Engineering, providing hands-on IT support for office and plant floor environments. The technician will play a key role in supporting a strategic new production line build, ensuring stable, secure, and compliant operation of manufacturing and enterprise systems during pilot, ramp-up, and full production phases.
This is a contract position with strong potential for conversion to a full-time employee (FTE) role based on performance and organizational fit. Initial contract is structured in 6-month increments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Experience working in a manufacturing plant setting
• Experience working with or coordinating managed service providers (MSPs)
• Familiarity with Intune, Active Directory, and Azure
• Experience with inventory management, asset management, and CMDB tools
• Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, MCSE, or CCNA
Physical Requirements
The base range for this contract position is $18 - $25 per hour, depending on experience. Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hires of this position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Triage IT hardware, software, and network issues in both office and manufacturing plant floor environments, with a focus on production-critical systems. Escalate to appropriate global or regional teams as needed.
- Configure and deploy IT hardware in office settings, including printers, conference phones, and conferencing systems, following established hardware and software standards.
- Configure and deploy plant floor IT equipment such as label printers, PCs, thin clients, scan guns, radio frequency (RF) devices, payroll clocks, and specialized production workstations.
- Collaborate with architects and engineers to develop a working understanding of applications, plant floor hardware layouts, networking, and software systems.
- Serve as the on-site IT point of contact for internal teams and external service providers, including vendors supporting manufacturing equipment and systems.
- Facilitate the full PC Lifecycle Management (PCLM) process.
- Maintain security, organization, and appearance of server room infrastructure.
- Manage SLAs and resolve incidents using ServiceNow.
- Communicate WAN/LAN outages, infrastructure maintenance windows, and planned hardware/software deployments to plant management.
- Partner across local departments (Engineering, HR, Maintenance) to advise on IT deployments and execute projects.
- Coordinate with managed service partners (MSPs) for networking and infrastructure support, serving as the on-site liaison.
- Recommend hardware and software upgrades and assist with procurement quotes through approved vendors.
- Ensure new IT hardware serial numbers are recorded and included under existing maintenance contracts.
- Regularly spend time on the plant floor; occasionally lift parcels up to 40 pounds.
- Participate in a light on-call rotation (approximately once per month for server patching; emergency after-hours support is rare).
- Travel approximately 10% of the time to support remote facilities
- Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 1 year of professional IT technical support experience, OR
- Associate's degree with a minimum of 2 years of IT technical support experience, OR
- 4 or more years of equivalent experience combining education and hands-on IT support
- Strong PC support skills, including hardware troubleshooting, software installation, imaging, and deployment
- Experience configuring and troubleshooting IT hardware such as printers, PCs, thin clients, scan guns, and/or RF devices
- Functional understanding of networking concepts, including access points, switches, VoIP, TCP/IP, DHCP, and DNS
- Solid analytical and critical thinking skills with strong written and verbal communication abilities
- Demonstrated proactive approach to problem-solving with a track record of strong initiative
- Ability to work onsite full-time in a manufacturing plant environment, including wearing required PPE and following all safety protocols
- Ability to participate in on-call rotation and respond to off-hours support situations requiring immediate attention
