LRS Consulting Services is seeking a hands-on Senior Azure Cloud Platform Engineer to operate, support, and mature an established enterprise Azure environment. This engineer will work extensively with Microsoft Azure, Terraform, Azure DevOps, and Infrastructure as Code while supporting day-to-day platform operations, continuous improvements, and acquisition-related migrations.

This is an engineering role, not a pure architecture, strategy, or advisory position. The ideal candidate can quickly understand an existing Azure, Terraform, and Azure DevOps ecosystem then begin troubleshooting issues, maintaining infrastructure code, improving delivery pipelines, and making changes within a live enterprise environment. Everything is deployed through Infrastructure as Code. Resources are not deployed manually through the Azure portal.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer, engineer, and troubleshoot enterprise Azure environments.
• Support Azure subscriptions, Management Groups, networking, compute, storage, identity, RBAC, DNS, private endpoints, monitoring, and logging.
• Maintain shared platform services across an established Azure Landing Zone environment.
• Maintain and enhance existing Terraform code, reusable modules, providers, variables, and remote state.
• Troubleshoot failed Terraform plans, deployments, state issues, and environmental inconsistencies.
• Promote infrastructure changes across environments through established Infrastructure as Code processes.
• Maintain and improve Azure DevOps YAML pipelines used for Terraform deployments.
• Manage Azure DevOps Repos, service connections, service principals, approvals, and branch policies.
• Troubleshoot pipeline failures then improve automation, reliability, and deployment controls.
• Support Azure Policy, subscription provisioning, tagging standards, RBAC, diagnostic settings, and security controls.
• Enhance monitoring, logging, governance, operational automation, and overall platform maturity.
• Apply Azure Landing Zone and Cloud Adoption Framework principles within an established environment.
• Support discovery, assessment, planning, and execution for acquisition-related cloud migrations.
• Identify application, infrastructure, network, identity, security, and data dependencies during migration planning.
• Assist with network connectivity, identity integration, data migration, cutover planning, and post-migration support.
• Partner with infrastructure, application, security, networking, and business teams throughout platform and migration initiatives.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and platform standards.

Required Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience administering and engineering Microsoft Azure environments.
• Practical experience with Azure subscriptions, networking, identity, RBAC, compute, storage, private endpoints, DNS, monitoring, and logging.
• Advanced Terraform experience within Microsoft Azure.
• Experience maintaining an established Terraform codebase with reusable modules and remote state.
• Experience troubleshooting failed Infrastructure as Code deployments.
• Strong Azure DevOps experience including Repos, YAML pipelines, service connections, approvals, and branch policies.
• Experience integrating Terraform with automated Azure DevOps deployment workflows.
• Experience operating or maturing an enterprise Azure platform built around Azure Landing Zones.
• Working knowledge of Azure Policy, Management Groups, tagging, governance, diagnostic settings, and security controls.
• Ability to troubleshoot problems and safely implement changes within a live enterprise environment.
• Strong communication, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting infrastructure or application migrations resulting from mergers and acquisitions.
• Experience integrating acquired companies into an existing enterprise Azure environment.
• Knowledge of migration discovery, dependency mapping, connectivity planning, identity integration, and cutover support.
• Experience working with Microsoft’s Cloud Adoption Framework.
• PowerShell, Azure CLI, or similar automation experience.
• Experience supporting enterprise security, governance, and compliance requirements.

Certifications

• Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator Associate AZ 104 preferred.
• Microsoft Certified Azure Solutions Architect Expert AZ 305 beneficial.
• HashiCorp Certified Terraform Associate considered a plus.

Demonstrated hands-on engineering experience is more important than architecture-focused certifications.

The base range for this contract position is $50.00 - $70.00 per hour, depending on experience.
Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hires of this position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Colorado Pay Range:
50.00 - 70.00/per Hour
